What is Spectra Carbolase?
Spectra Carbolase is a revolutionary laser device, developed by the aesthetic technology company Lutronic Aesthetic, that treats a wide variety of skin conditions while simultaneously improving the overall look and feel of your skin. It is the first Nd:YAG laser that is Q-switched that has been cleared by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for melasma treatment, and results in better outcomes than other cosmetic laser treatments. Even better, it involves zero downtime and provides fabulous results! It uses low energy laser beams to resurface and rejuvenate dull, aging, or hyperpigmented skin.
A versatile treatment for a variety of skin conditions
Spectra Carbolase can be used to treat many of the most common skin conditions that we see at the KHROM MEDSPA & WELLNESS, including:
- Liver spots or other pigmented areas
- Fine lines and wrinkles

Also called The Hollywood Laser Peel®, the Spectra Carbolase device can treat a broad range of patients and provides beautiful, younger-looking skin that is more evenly toned and has fewer fine lines and wrinkles. Skin rejuvenation has never been easier!
What to expect during your treatment
The Spectra laser treatment procedure varies depending on the skin condition you are treating. For treatment of issues such as wrinkles, and large pores, your face is first gently cleansed and then a special lotion called SpectraLotion™ is applied to your face. This lotion contains small carbon particles that penetrate deeply into your scars and pores. Then, we will pass the laser over your face using the Spectra mode to photothermally stimulate your skin for exfoliation and cellular regeneration. Then, the Q-switched mode is activated and we pass the laser over your skin again, which causes the carbon particles in the SpectraLotion to explode. When this happens, your skin is exfoliated even further, your pores shrink, and your body’s collagen remodeling processes are activated. The end result is more evenly toned, youthful, glowing skin.
If you are using Spectra for pigmentation issues, we first clean the treatment area and then apply an anesthetic and let it work for 20 minutes. Then, we focus the Spectra laser on the pigmentation spots, where the pigmented cells or inks are broken down into small particles by the energy from the laser. Your body then eliminates the pigmentation over time with natural processes.
After your treatment, you will experience little to no downtime because the Spectra laser is gentle. Patients typically have few side effects, if any; the most common side effect is slight redness in the treatment area that dissipates within a few hours.
Spectra Carbolase results
Most patients require more than one treatment session to achieve optimal results but see a visible improvement after their very first session. Your results will keep getting better after each treatment!
It is also a long-lasting treatment option for hyperpigmentation in your skin (such as liver spots, sunspots, or other pigmented areas). If you are using Spectra as an anti-aging solution, maintenance treatments will likely be necessary over time as new wrinkles and fine lines form. Regularly using a broad-spectrum sunscreen and maintaining a healthy lifestyle and good skin care regimen can help make your results last for a long time.
